Get Assistant

For trucking and logistics companies

A broker calls at 2am about a load in a different time zone

Get Assistant answers your line 24/7, takes the BOL or PO number, the lane, and whether the call is about a pickup window, a delivery appointment or a delay, and logs it for dispatch before the next shift starts.

  • Answers calls 24/7
  • Captures BOL and PO numbers
  • Delay reports logged

Why it matters

What the phone costs trucking and logistics companies

Freight calls do not respect a nine-to-five

Shippers on the East Coast, brokers in the Midwest and drivers somewhere on I-80 are never in the same time zone. A call that goes unanswered at 3am can cost a pickup window.

A driver check call needs a reference number to mean anything

"I'm running behind" is not useful without the load or PO number attached. Capturing it on the call means dispatch isn't hunting through paperwork to figure out which truck called.

Detention and delay reports pile up without a place to land

A driver sitting at a dock for three hours past the appointment window needs that logged with a timestamp, not relayed secondhand at the end of the day.

Common calls

The calls it handles

Each is answered from the business knowledge you configure and lands as a call record, with a message or an appointment request alongside it.

Broker or shipper load inquiry
Lane, equipment type and rate question are captured, along with the load or reference number if the caller has one.
Pickup or delivery appointment window
Facility name, requested date and time window, and whether it's a live load or drop-and-hook are logged for dispatch.
Driver check call
Current location, load number and reason for the call — running late, mechanical issue, waiting at a dock — are recorded.
Detention or delay report
Arrival time, current wait time and the facility name are captured so dispatch can follow up on detention pay.
BOL or PO reference questions
Callers asking to confirm a bill of lading or purchase order number are logged with whatever numbers they provide.
Lane and rate inquiries
Origin, destination and equipment type are captured as a rate request for your team to quote.

A realistic call

How a call actually goes

Wednesday, 4:50am Central. A driver calls in stuck at a receiver's dock.

  1. ReceptionistThanks for calling. What's going on?
  2. CallerThis is Marcus, load 48213. I've been sitting at the dock since 3am.
  3. ReceptionistGot it. What time was your delivery appointment?
  4. Caller3am sharp. They said the dock's backed up, no ETA.
  5. ReceptionistUnderstood. What's the facility name and city?
  6. CallerMeridian Distribution, out in Joliet.
  7. ReceptionistI've logged that for the team to review. Is there anything else I should add?
  8. CallerJust that my next pickup is at 8, so this is getting tight.
  9. ReceptionistNoted on the record. Dispatch will follow up shortly.

What gets captured

What ends up in your dashboard

  • Driver, broker or shipper name and callback number
  • Load, BOL or PO reference number
  • Origin and destination for lane or rate inquiries
  • Pickup or delivery appointment window and facility name
  • Current location and status on driver check calls
  • Detention start time and reason for delay
  • Equipment type when relevant to the call

How it works

Evenings, weekends and overflow

Freight does not stop at the end of a shift, and calls come from every time zone your lanes touch. Forward your line so a broker calling before your dispatch desk opens, or a driver stuck at a dock at 4am, reaches a real conversation. Every load reference, delay report and pickup request is logged and waiting when your team is back on shift.

Two ways to forward

Forward every call, or use conditional forwarding from your carrier so only unanswered and after-hours calls reach your Get Assistant number.

Limitations

What it will not do

These limits are deliberate, and they are the same on every call.

  • It does not reroute a driver, approve detention pay or make dispatch decisions — those stay with your team.
  • On every plan, if you've set up call transfer, your receptionist can ask the caller and then attempt a warm transfer to your dispatch desk during the hours you choose. If nobody picks up, it takes a message and a callback number instead.
  • It does not confirm rates or accept a load on your behalf — rate inquiries are logged as requests.
  • It does not track a truck's live location; it records what the caller reports.
  • It is not an emergency line. A driver reporting an accident or a medical emergency should be directed to call 911 immediately.

Call records include load numbers, facility names and driver locations tied to active freight, so limit dashboard access to dispatch staff who need it. Calls are recorded and transcribed by default. Privacy Policy and Terms.

FAQs

Trucking and logistics companies questions

Setup, billing and security are covered in the general FAQs.

Can it confirm a rate or accept a load?
No. It captures the lane, equipment type and reference numbers a broker or shipper provides and logs it as a rate inquiry for your team to quote and accept.
How does it handle calls across different time zones?
It handles calls the same way regardless of when they come in, so a broker calling at 2am their time or a driver checking in at dawn gets the same complete intake.
Can it log a detention claim automatically?
It captures the details — arrival time, wait time, facility name — as a report for dispatch to review. It does not calculate or submit detention pay itself.
What if a driver calls about an accident?
The receptionist directs the driver to call 911 immediately and logs that the call happened, rather than treating itself as the emergency contact.

Cover the calls that come in between shifts

Set up your lanes, dispatch contacts and after-hours rules once, and let broker, shipper and driver calls land as sorted reports.
