Why it matters

What the phone costs landscaping and lawn care companies

Spring and fall bring three weeks of nonstop calls

Every property owner wants cleanup scheduled the same week. A voicemail box during that window loses jobs to whoever answers live.

Recurring accounts and one-off quotes need different handling

A weekly mowing customer asking to skip a week is not the same call as a new install quote. Each gets logged for the right person to act on.

Storm cleanup calls spike overnight and nobody's watching the phone

A fallen tree limb after a storm can't wait until Monday. Calls after hours still get a real conversation and a logged request.

Common calls

The calls it handles

Each is answered from the business knowledge you configure and lands as a call record, with a message or an appointment request alongside it.

Seasonal cleanup requests
Spring cleanup, fall leaf removal, or snow and storm cleanup — captured with the property address and urgency.
Recurring maintenance signup or changes
New weekly or biweekly mowing signups, schedule changes and skip requests are logged against the property.
One-off design or install quotes
Patios, plant beds, sod installs and hardscape projects are captured as quote requests with scope notes.
Irrigation and tree work
Sprinkler repairs, seasonal startup and shutoff, and tree trimming or removal calls are logged with the specific issue described.
Billing and account questions
Invoice and service-date questions on existing accounts are taken as messages routed to your office.

A realistic call

How a call actually goes

Thursday, 8:50am after an overnight storm. A homeowner is calling about a downed tree limb on their lawn.

  1. ReceptionistGood morning, thanks for calling. How can I help?
  2. CallerA big limb came down in my backyard last night and it's blocking part of the yard.
  3. ReceptionistSorry to hear that. Is the limb resting on anything like a fence, power line, or structure?
  4. CallerNo, it just landed on the grass, nothing else.
  5. ReceptionistGood to know. Can I get the property address and your name?
  6. CallerDenise Martel, 27 Hollow Oak Lane.
  7. ReceptionistThanks, Denise. I've logged that for the team to review and reach out about getting it cleared. Is there anything else I should add?
  8. CallerCould someone come today if possible?
  9. ReceptionistI'll note that you're hoping for today, and the team will confirm what's possible when they call.

What gets captured

What ends up in your dashboard

  • Caller name and callback number
  • Property address and approximate lot size, if known
  • Service requested: cleanup, mowing signup, install quote, irrigation or tree work
  • Whether this is a new property or an existing account
  • Urgency, especially for storm damage or blocked access
  • Preferred service day or timeframe
  • Gate codes or pet notes needed for crew access

How it works

Evenings, weekends and overflow

Storm damage and the first warm weekend of the year don't wait for office hours. Forward your line evenings and weekends during peak season, and Get Assistant takes the property address, service needed and urgency the same way your office would. Crews start the day with a sorted list instead of a full voicemail box after a storm.

Two ways to forward

Forward every call, or use conditional forwarding from your carrier so only unanswered and after-hours calls reach your Get Assistant number.

Setup and forwarding FAQs

Limitations

What it will not do

These limits are deliberate, and they are the same on every call.

  • It does not schedule crews or confirm a specific arrival window — requests are logged, not booked.
  • On every plan, if you've set up call transfer, your receptionist can ask the caller and then attempt a warm transfer to your crew lead or office manager during the hours you choose. If nobody picks up, it takes a message and a callback number instead.
  • It does not quote pricing for installs or tree removal — those need a site visit from your team.
  • It does not assess tree hazard risk or structural safety.
  • It is not an emergency service. A limb or tree threatening a structure, power line or person is directed to call 911 or the utility company first.

Call records include property addresses and gate access notes, so keep dashboard access limited to your crew leads and office staff. Calls are recorded and transcribed by default. Privacy Policy and Terms.

FAQs

Landscaping companies questions

Setup, billing and security are covered in the general FAQs.

Can it schedule my mowing crew for a specific day?
It logs the request and the caller's preferred day, but it does not place anything on your crew schedule. Your office confirms the actual route assignment.
How does it handle the spring and fall rush?
It answers every incoming call in parallel, so a surge of cleanup requests during peak weeks doesn't overwhelm a single phone line the way it would with a person answering one call at a time.
Can it quote a price for a new patio or install?
No. It captures the scope and property details so your estimator can follow up, but pricing for design and install work always comes from a site visit.
What if a current customer wants to talk to their crew lead directly?
On every plan, if you've set up call transfer, your receptionist can ask the caller and then attempt a warm transfer to your crew lead during the hours you choose. If nobody picks up, it takes a message and a callback number instead. Otherwise it takes a detailed message with the account name and request.

Stop losing spring cleanup calls to the next name on the list
