Get Assistant

For construction and remodeling companies

There's no front desk between you and a ladder

Get Assistant answers your office line while your whole crew is on a roof or pouring a slab, sorts a homeowner's remodel question from a subcontractor's material question, and logs the project details so the right person calls back with context.

  • Answers calls 24/7
  • Captures project scope and address
  • Sorted by caller type

Why it matters

What the phone costs construction and remodeling companies

Nobody is at a desk to pick up

Every hand on the crew is holding a tool, not a phone. A homeowner shopping bids moves to the next name on their list within minutes.

A bid inquiry and a supplier delivery question sound alike for ten seconds

Both need a callback, but not from the same person. Every call record notes what the caller actually wants before anyone dials back.

Permit and inspection windows get missed between job sites

A city inspector or a permit office calling about scheduling deserves a fast answer, not a voicemail that gets checked at 6pm.

Common calls

The calls it handles

Each is answered from the business knowledge you configure and lands as a call record, with a message or an appointment request alongside it.

New bid or estimate request
Project type, rough scope, address and timeline are captured so estimating can prioritize the callback.
Homeowner remodel inquiry
Kitchen, bathroom, addition or full remodel — the caller's goals and budget range if offered are logged as a lead.
Subcontractor or supplier call
Delivery windows, material questions and schedule confirmations are taken as messages routed to the project manager.
Site and permit questions
Inspector callbacks and permit office questions are logged with the job address and permit number when the caller has it.
Change order requests
A client asking to add or adjust scope mid-project is captured with the specific change described, not just 'client called'.
Punch-list callbacks
Post-completion touch-up requests are logged separately from new leads so warranty work doesn't get lost in the pipeline.

A realistic call

How a call actually goes

Tuesday, 1:15pm. A homeowner is calling about a kitchen remodel while the crew is framing an addition across town.

  1. ReceptionistThanks for calling, how can I help you today?
  2. CallerHi, I'm hoping to get a quote for a full kitchen remodel.
  3. ReceptionistHappy to get that started. Is this a full gut renovation or more of a refresh?
  4. CallerFull gut. New cabinets, layout change, moving a wall.
  5. ReceptionistGot it. Can I get the property address and your ideal timeline?
  6. Caller412 Willow Creek Drive, and we'd like to start in about two months.
  7. ReceptionistThat's helpful. I've logged that for the team to review and get back to you about scheduling a walkthrough.
  8. CallerSounds good, do you know roughly what that costs?
  9. ReceptionistPricing depends on the walkthrough, so I'll leave that with the estimator. Is there anything else I should add?
  10. CallerNo, that covers it.
  11. ReceptionistGreat, someone will follow up soon to schedule that walkthrough.

What gets captured

What ends up in your dashboard

  • Caller name and callback number
  • Project type and rough scope of work
  • Property address and ZIP code
  • Desired timeline or start date
  • Whether the caller is a homeowner, subcontractor, supplier or inspector
  • Permit number or inspection reference, when the caller has one
  • Budget range, only if the caller offers it unprompted

How it works

Evenings, weekends and overflow

Bid shopping doesn't stop at 5pm, and neither do supplier calls about a next-day delivery. Forward your office line after hours or during site days, and Get Assistant takes the same details a person would: scope, address, timeline and who's calling. Your estimator opens a sorted list instead of a stack of missed calls and guessing which ones matter.

Two ways to forward

Forward every call, or use conditional forwarding from your carrier so only unanswered and after-hours calls reach your Get Assistant number.

Limitations

What it will not do

These limits are deliberate, and they are the same on every call.

  • It does not provide a project quote or estimate — pricing stays with your estimator after a walkthrough.
  • On every plan, if you've set up call transfer, your receptionist can ask the caller and then attempt a warm transfer to your project manager or job-site foreman during the hours you choose. If nobody picks up, it takes a message and a callback number instead.
  • It does not confirm start dates or crew schedules — requests are logged, not booked.
  • It does not sign for deliveries or make decisions on material substitutions.
  • It is not an emergency line. A caller reporting an active site emergency or safety hazard is told to call 911 or the appropriate authority directly.

Call records include property addresses, project scope and sometimes budget figures, so limit dashboard access to people who need it. Calls are recorded and transcribed by default. Privacy Policy and Terms.

FAQs

Construction companies questions

Setup, billing and security are covered in the general FAQs.

Can it give a price over the phone?
No. It captures the scope, address and timeline so your estimator has what they need for a walkthrough, but pricing always comes from your team.
How does it tell a homeowner lead from a subcontractor call?
It asks who's calling and why, and logs each one under the right category — lead, subcontractor, supplier or inspector — so your team isn't sorting through one undifferentiated list.
Can it schedule a walkthrough on my calendar?
It logs the request and the caller's preferred timing as something to review. Nothing gets placed on a calendar automatically, so a job site day never turns into a double-booked walkthrough.
What happens if a caller asks for the foreman by name?
On every plan, if you've set up call transfer, your receptionist can ask the caller and then attempt a warm transfer to your foreman or PM during the hours you choose. If nobody picks up, it takes a message and a callback number instead. Otherwise it takes a detailed message with the caller's name, number and reason.

Stop losing bids to whoever answers the phone first
